MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

B.A. degree or higher in Education with proper certification as required by the Professional Standards Commission. Minimum of five successful years of teaching with evidence of improving student achievement required. Leadership experience at the school or district level preferred. Strong knowledge of K-12 research-based instructional strategies and curriculum; ability to communicate effectively; ability to design and implement high quality professional development for teachers/staff; ability to use data for instructional decision-making; and strong organizational skills. 

 

GOAL

Improve instruction and achievement for all students by building teacher capacity through coaching models; professional learning designs; and data literacy strategies. To support the vision for instructional improvement specifically supporting Instructional Framework implementation, Professional Learning Communities, Instructional Coaching, Response to Intervention (RTI) assistance and student academic progress/promotion monitoring. 

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and implement specific content-related and strategic instructional training requested or appropriate.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a coordinated and consistent instructional program designed to meet the needs of all students.
  • Provide instructional coaching support and professional training in the appropriate format, (e.g. one-on-one, demonstration lessons, small group or whole staff) to promote continuous improvement and increased student achievement.
  • Foster professional and collegial, non-evaluative relationships with staff to promote reflective practice and to improve instructional strategies.
  • Enhance and support the work of Professional Learning Communities and Instructional Framework.
  • Provide training on the use of technology in the classroom.
  • Model and/or redeliver research-based instructional strategies to target identified needs; and to increase student academic success and promotion/graduation rates.
  • Assist administrators and teachers in use of assessment and other data to tailor instructional decisions, such as delivery models, resources, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate and communicate in an effective and positive manner to build cohesive plans for instructional improvement.
  • Develop, coordinate and support induction for new teachers, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with administrators and teachers to align all instructional strategies with formative assessment practices.
  • Participate in required training; and fulfill required tasks for endorsement as an Instructional Coach.
  • Provide leadership in the use of School Improvement Plan data to make informed instructional decisions.
  • Provide support and consult with teachers in the implementation of Response to Intervention plans school-wide.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
  • Research and review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignments (specifically Instructional Coaching).
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
