MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. Minimum of three years’ general custodial duties or related field. Desire to learn the trade and further knowledge through off-duty study and trade school/courses. Able to climb and work from ladders or scaffolding, and carry heavy objects. Must be willing to work in undesirable locations. Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions, and carry out assignments on time. Able to work well with others. Must have a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator’s license with endorsements compatible with assigned duties of Cherokee County Board of Education. 

 

GOAL

To provide a healthy, safe, functional and attractive environment for staff, visitors, and members of the general public through standards of cleanliness and regular maintenance of CCSD facilities. 

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance duties in all areas of District buildings.
  • Maintain woodwork, walls, furniture and windows using common household equipment and cleaning products.
  • Maintain carpeting and floors, using manual and power equipment.
  • Climb and maintain multilevel stairwells; climbs a ladder or steps to complete tasks.
  • Keep equipment and supplies in order; maintains an inventory of supplies; restocks and requests/orders supplies when needed.
  • Work with chemicals using protective equipment as required to maintain facilities.
  • Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, activities and events.
  • Move furnishings as required for routine and periodic major cleaning.
  • Operate small equipment, common hand tools and machinery with care in performing assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Maintain security and accountability for keys, alarm codes, equipment and supplies.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks and minor repairs.
  • Perform routine minor electrical repairs (120V, 240V, 277V, and 480V) including reading of wiring diagrams.
  • Perform routine minor plumbing repairs.
  • Perform routine minor HVAC repairs.
  • Perform routine minor Low Voltage repairs.
  • Perform routine minor Kitchen repairs.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Perform routine carpentry repairs.
  • Repair door and window hardware as required.
  • Ensure offices, building and grounds are well maintained and cleaned.
  • Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, activities and events.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment to ensure availability for routine needs.
  • Move furnishings as required for routine and periodic major cleaning.
  • Assume the primary role in operating specialized machinery and equipment in performing assigned tasks.
  • Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns to resolve safety issues and maintain a functioning educational work environment.
  • Report damaged structures and equipment to appropriate supervisor.
  • Provide common hand tools for use in completion of assigned tasks.
  • Operate Board-owned vehicle in a safe manner, and assume responsibility for all supplies and equipment on the vehicle.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
