MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of two years post-secondary education; Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Minimum of three years of experience working in an administrative environment.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; knowledge and understanding of state educator certification process preferred; ability to compose correspondence independently; ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to utilize computer software effectively.

 

GOAL

Efficiently and effectively plan and manage, in conjunction with the Director of Staffing, all aspects of the School District’s employee certification process and employee work experience verification process in order to ensure accurate administration of statutory regulations and local guidelines.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor, interpret and implement current laws, rules and policies pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  • Evaluate personnel transcripts to identify certification areas and submit the documentation to the Professional Standards Commission (PSC) in order to have all educators in compliance with state law.
  • Evaluate transcripts and/or certification test records to ensure all certified staff have taken and passed the proper examinations.
  • Ensure criminal history checks and other requirements needed for certification and re-certification of personnel licensed by the PSC are completed.
  • Maintain, monitor and ensure that valid certifications/licenses are on file including professional educators, paraprofessionals, nurses, and other positions as assigned.
  • Develop and manage a process, with direction from Supervisory staff, for monitoring and ensuring that Professionally Qualified status for applicable employees is met and maintained including ensuring accuracy of the annual state Professional Qualified Report.
  • Develop and manage a process, with direction from Supervisory staff, for ensuring that an appropriate plan for clear renewable certification is created at time of employment and that progress toward completion of the plan is tracked.
  • Coordinate communication and advise certified personnel regarding certification status, qualifications, renewal procedures, upgrading levels, adding fields, endorsements and expiration dates.
  • Coordinate and recommend courses/tests needed by certified personnel to ensure funding.
  • Review and process certification/license application packages for all veteran and newly employed personnel including initial certificates, upgrades to certificates and additions to certificates including, but not limited to, additional fields, upgrades to certificate levels, Master Teacher credential electronic transmittals, endorsements, etc.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding certification, experience verification and required examinations in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
  • Advise and make recommendations regarding any employee failing to maintain or qualify for certification.
  • Monitor completion of contracts (experience and levels) for all certified personnel.
  • Evaluate experience verification forms for previous employees, those leaving the system and new hires entering the system.
  • Make accurate and appropriate recommendations regarding salary placement using established local guidelines and practices.
  • Efficiently and accurately complete all state required Certified/Classified Personnel Inventory (CPI) reports.
  • Monitor and disseminate Georgia educator certification test information to appropriate staff as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a process for tracking and monitoring employees pursuing or holding National Board Certification and ensure that state and local regulations in this regard are administered appropriately.
  • Coordinate certified incentives to ensure approved practices and recommend payment of incentives.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignment.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
